Benefits Roof cleaning & Gutter cleaning
Gutter cleaning
1-Protect exterior walls Rainwater stuck in gutters can destroy your home’s exterior—especially when the weight of debris makes a gap in your gutter system. Areas affected include: Shingles, Soffits & fascia When these areas get waterlogged, they stop working, and mold, mildew, and algae grow on the exterior wall—and paint begins to peel and chip. Say goodbye to your curb appeal. 2-Prevent cracks in foundation When gutters are filled with gunk, the water from your roof heads straight for your basement and foundation. It can also erode your landscaping. With excessive amounts of water saturating the ground, the soil expands, pushing your foundation. After the soil dries up, the foundation contracts. This continuous process of expanding and contracting puts strain on your foundation. 3- Deters animal nesting Insects and small animals like rodents love stationary water. It’s one of their favorite watering holes to stop by for a drink. Leaves inside gutters provide a haven for insects, birds, and squirrels to build a nest. From the gutter, it’s an easy commute to the roof for these critters to nest, breed, and infest your attic. |
Roof cleaning
Professional roof cleaning every 4-5 years could save you thousands in roof replacement costs by prolonging the life of your shingle roof. Below are some competing reasons to get your roof cleaned. 1- Soot, air pollution, and acid rain residues settle onto a home and then dry out roofing shingles, causing granules along the top of those shingles to become loose and crumbly and fall away. These granules typically wind up in a home's gutters, leading to eventual exterior water damage to your house. 2- Algae eat away at the limestone in asphalt shingles, causing those tiles to become thin and worn. Algae, moss, and mold also work their way under roofing tiles and flashing, loosening tiles and softening roofing paper. A home's roof can then look bumpy and those tiles are at higher risk of becoming loose and falling away. 3- Mud, dirt, grime, and solid debris built up on a roof's surface can dissolve and fall into the home's gutters, causing clogs leading to potential water damage of a home's exterior walls and foundation. 4- Thin and damaged shingles also don't insulate a home as they should, letting out your home's heating and air conditioning. |
Our Roof cleaning process
Great care and skill is needed when cleaning a roof. If you blast asphalt shingles with high pressure you can do a lot of damage. The grit on the shingle is very delicate and can be damaged irreversibly, water can also get underneath the shingles and cause rotting. For most roofs we use a specialized low pressure pump instead of a power washer to perform the cleaning. In some cases however, depending on the type of roof, we might choose to use a different method.
When it comes to Roof cleaning we have a proprietary 5 step cleaning process!
1-Area prep We will take all necessary precautions to protect the surrounding area. We will bag downspouts, cover AC vents, pre-soak/cover vegetation etc...
2-Pre-treatment We will pre-treat The roof with appropriate treatments to kill all organic staining such as mold and mildew, moss and algae etc...
3-Agitation We will lightly agitate to release any moss from the shingles. We don't over agitate because this will damage the grit on your shingles. Any remaining organic mater will be washed off by rain in the days following the cleaning.
4-Rinse After applying our solutions, agitating and making sure all organic stains are removed, we will rinse the surfaces to make sure all the loosened dirt is washed and our solutions are neutralized.
5-Post-treatment Depending on the cleaning package chosen we can apply a post treatment that will seal the roof and offer residual protection.
